When you delete a file or folder, it doesn’t actually get deleted straight away. Instead, it gets sent to the Recycle Bin. This means that you haven’t yet lost it and, should you change your mind, you can get it back. To get stuff back that you’ve just deleted you need to restore from the Recycle Bin. The Recycle Bin can be thought of as a holding area for unwanted items and is usually found on your desktop:
You could let the Recycle Bin just accumulate everything you delete. The only problem with doing this is that as you delete more and more items, the space your Recycle Bin takes up will grow. So that you don’t run out of space to store new files, every now and then it’s a good idea to have a purge and empty that bin!
Empty The Recycle Bin
Emptying the Recycle Bin is so easy that cretins can do it. If you know some cretins, ask them over and set them a test! If you don’t have any at your disposal, you’ll have to do it yourself: get to your desktop by clicking the Show desktop icon.
Next, locate the Recycle Bin on your desktop (see the image above if you’ve forgotten what it looks like) and right click on it. Select Empty Recycle Bin if you know what’s good for you.
You’ll then see a window that asks you to confirm your actions. If you click “Yes” then you will permanently delete everything in your Recycle Bin, and there will be no bringing them back. But of course, you know this, otherwise you wouldn’t have attempted to delete the damn things in the first place!
Just click “yes”.
