This short tutorial will show you the different ways that you can run a program in Windows 7.
Running Programs
There are several different ways to start up a program like Microsoft Word, for example. We can click the Start button and select the program we need from the initial list, or we can click the Start button > All programs, to look for it.You can even get Windows to search for the program by typing it into the search box.
Some programs have been “pinned” to the taskbar. To start them, just click on their icon. If you find that you use a particular program a lot, you can pin it to the taskbar yourself. This will save you searching for the program, and makes it easier for you to find.
To pin a program to the taskbar yourself, find it using one of the methods above and right click on it > Pin to Taskbar.
Often when you install a program, you will get the option to display an icon on the desktop that will run that program when double clicked. Then it’s a simple case of displaying your desktop by clicking the Show desktop button and finding the programs desktop icon.
It’s not just programs that can appear on the desktop. If you find that you use a particular file a lot, perhaps a Word document, then you can display an icon for it on the desktop too. Doing so will make it easier for you to find and open the document.
